Be your own Radio Jockey - Tune your inner FM Radio

Image
👉 Ever tuned into a sad song on your FM radio? What do you do? Simple — you switch the station! 🎶 Suddenly, you're grooving to a peppy Bhangra beat, and a smile lights up your face. The sad song didn’t vanish — it’s still floating in the airwaves — but you chose a different frequency. That’s the power of tuning your inner radio. Similarly, we can be our own RJ and control our own radio… Our chatter mind 😊 1.    👉   By Breath control – Change our focus to our breath. Do deep breathing for 2 minutes only and focus on our breath going in and coming out. That’s it. DONE 😊 So, what have we done? We have shifted our focus from bad chatter inside to our breath. Deep breathing calms our nervous system and gives definite signals to calm our chattering mind. 2.    👉   Observer Technique – Very simple technique. Not like a difficult yoga asana. a.   Start observing your thoughts. b.   Recognise your negative thoughts. c.   Accept it d...

Our Brain doesn't come with an Operating Manual.

Image
Our brain is like a multidimensional processor — but unlike other electronic appliances, it doesn’t come with an operating manual. Then how do we operate without a manual?  In the absence of a manual, most of us navigate life on autopilot, often getting mixed results. Our brain has three elements –  The Smart Brain The Emotional Brain The Reptilian Brain.     Smart or Conscious Brain – handles language, talks to people, decides what to do. Works linearly.     Emotional or Unconscious Brain – Multidimensional Processor - Multitasker. This has the majority of the activity. 20 times more electrical activity than the conscious brain. Works in a non-linear way. This handles Memory – Remembering the past/patterns, Emotions – Thinking about myself, others, Feelings, and Moral thinking. Imagine the future.     Reptilian Brain – The limbic system is concerned with survival. It is constantly scanning the environment for potential threats and assessing ...

Tough Bosses and Office Stress - 5 mantras to reduce office stress.

Image
Why do we all dislike tough bosses? Why do we hate going to the office on Mondays? 😊 We often complain during our office conversations about our bosses. Whether it’s a strict deadline or a project review meeting, we tend to blame either the office culture or our bosses for the stress and workload. In my 31 years in the corporate world, especially in the creative domain, I’ve worked with many tough bosses, and detailed feedback on our creative work was the norm. Take a moment to see the upside of a tough boss — they're pushing you to grow and bring out your best.  Just like we expect our cricket team to win and Virat Kohli to score a century, a tough boss expects more because they believe in your potential.   😊  Imagine the pressure we put them through. 👉Try to follow the following mantras and you will be super productive: - 🎯 Stay curious and keep learning. 🎯 Learn like a student and perform like a champion. 🎯 Take feedback constructively – Your boss ...

What is DESTINY?

Image
What is bothering you? Are you hitting a wall? Are you holding yourself? Do we all achieve what we dream? Then some of us start thinking about the role of Destiny in all this.  Then, what is DESTINY? The amazing analysis is that what we become is largely due to our own thinking patterns, habits, which govern our responses/reactions to the numerous circumstances that life throws at us. So, this means that our choices and actions program our destiny. HOW? The answer lies in our own sub-conscious programming, which we all do unconsciously throughout our whole life. 🎯   What we think repeatedly gets absorbed by our subconscious and stored as patterns. The subconscious assumes this is what we want more of in life. 🎯   These patterns gradually shape our personality. 🎯   Our personality, in turn, influences our choices, therby impacting our  circumstances and events in our lives.  🎯   And finally, our reactions to these events and situations defi...

Our Monkey Brain - a Restless entity

Image
The term "monkey brain" comes from ancient wisdom traditions and refers to our constantly active, restless mind. Just like a monkey, who is always moving and jumping from one branch to another. We have roughly 60,000 thoughts in a day. This mental chatter can leave us feeling drained, distracted, and disconnected from the present moment. But the good news? Like a playful monkey, the mind can be trained—with awareness, mindfulness, and gentle discipline. 📢 SOLUTION -     The journey starts with recognising this inner chatter – by OBSERVER TECHNIQUE. Practising Mindfulness – Being aware of your thoughts.  Start observing your thoughts. 10 mins of sitting in a quiet and relaxed environment. Recognise your thoughts as Negative or Positive. When you can recognise your thoughts, then you can easily maintain distance from them.  🧠  BRAIN IS A MUSCLE – By recognising one Negative thought and choosing to ignore it, you can throw it out of your system easily. T...

React like a dog, or respond like a human?

Image
Anger makes you lose the battle you’ve already won.  Take a breath, take control. I want to share an incident from years ago that stuck with me like Fevicol —it clung to my memory and completely transformed the way I perceive anger. One evening, I was out for my usual walk when I noticed a few street dogs resting by the roadside. Nearby, some children were playing. One of the boys began teasing a dog, and, unsurprisingly, the dog reacted—barking furiously and chasing after him. Startled, the boy ran away. Instinctively, I tried to intervene and shoo the dog away. The dog, now agitated, turned its attention to me and barked even more loudly. In that moment, something clicked. I had a sudden realisation: it's so easy to provoke a dog—just a gesture, a shout, or even driving past on a scooter can set it off. It doesn't take much. 👉 Then the deeper thought hit me: aren't we humans often the same? Someone says something offhand, cracks a joke at our expense, or makes a ca...

Neuroplasticity - we can intentionally change our brains with training and specific activity.

Image
Our brain structure and function change the way we THINK, ACT, and the way we pay attention to. A very interesting study was done on the London black cab taxi drivers. The taxi drivers need to study the complex network of 25 thousand streets in London to get the License. This is a very difficult test and needs an intense training of many years. So, when the research was published, it showed that the part of the brain associated with memory and navigation, called the HIPPOCAMPUS, is bigger and more developed in London black cab drivers than in any other person. The activity in the Hippocampus increases with more training. So, a very important takeaway of this study is that we can intentionally change our brains with training and specific activity.  Contact for IGNITE Workshops: sukhisr@yahoo.com   LinkedIn Profile  -  https://www.linkedin.com/in/sukhvinder-singh-392b647/

Intelligence Quotient (IQ) or Emotional Quotient (EQ)

Image
👉 What is more important, Intelligence Quotient (IQ) or Emotional Quotient (EQ)? What do you think? This is the most relevant question in today’s times. IQ (Intelligence Quotient) indicates our logical abilities to comprehend, gather and process new information, and solve complex problems. EQ (Emotional Quotient), on the other hand, is being aware of our own and others’ emotions and how we manage them. Our education system and social fabric is such that we all encourage sharpening our IQ right from school days. Years back, someone asked me, what do you want your IQ to be? Sharp or Blunt? I said, “Of course, Sharp”. So, we keep on sharpening our IQ and end up making it a sharp-edged weapon, which, if misused, will harm you in more ways than one. So, in the race to sharpen our IQ only, the Emotional Quotient (EQ) remains uncultivated. 👉  We must have a steady and stable hand to use this sharpened instrument, just as we do with our IQ. The stable hand is our Emotional Qu...

Our own Subconscious is driving our lives.

WHAT IS BOTHERING YOU? Are you hitting a wall? Are you holding yourself?   We all want to become billionaires, Civil Servants, and high-ranking officials. Do we all achieve what we dream? Each one of us goes through these feelings at some stage of our lives. Then some of us start thinking about the role of destiny in all this.  Then, what is DESTINY? So, this means that our choices and actions program our destiny. HOW? The answer lies in our own subconscious programming, which we all do unconsciously throughout our whole lives. What we think repeatedly becomes our habits and gets stored in our subconscious as patterns. Then these patterns define our personality. Which in turn defines our circumstances and events which life throws at us. Then our reactions to these events and circum...
