Intelligence Quotient (IQ) or Emotional Quotient (EQ)

👉 What is more important, Intelligence Quotient (IQ) or Emotional Quotient (EQ)? What do you think?

This is the most relevant question in today’s times.

IQ (Intelligence Quotient) indicates our logical abilities to comprehend, gather and process new information, and solve complex problems.

EQ (Emotional Quotient), on the other hand, is being aware of our own and others’ emotions and how we manage them.

Our education system and social fabric is such that we all encourage sharpening our IQ right from school days.

Years back, someone asked me, what do you want your IQ to be? Sharp or Blunt? I said, “Of course, Sharp”. So, we keep on sharpening our IQ and end up making it a sharp-edged weapon, which, if misused, will harm you in more ways than one. So, in the race to sharpen our IQ only, the Emotional Quotient (EQ) remains uncultivated.

👉 We must have a steady and stable hand to use this sharpened instrument, just as we do with our IQ. The stable hand is our Emotional Quotient (EQ).

Emotional Quotient – consists of 5 parts – Self Awareness, Self-Regulation, Self-Motivation, Empathy and Communication. Self-awareness is the most important, as it can control all the other parts.

👉 The inventor of the atomic bomb would not have done it if he had studied emotional intelligence and empathy in school.

👉 We need knowledge and skills for success in our lives. Our attitude is like a glue which holds these two elements together. Our Emotional Quotient defines our Attitude, which is tested way more than our knowledge and skills in our lifetime.

KEEP TRAINING YOUR MIND AND KEEP SMILING 😊
