The enemy is just 40 meters away from us, we are out numbered and running out of the ammunition.

"Bofors has a killing range of 300 meters. There’s a high chance you won’t survive either,” came the response from Major Gurpreet Madhok on the other end.

Capt. Cariappa said “We will not survive in any case sir. We have run out of ammunition and I need the bloody fire here right now.”

“Roger! Fire shall be upon you in minutes. Take cover if you can. God bless you."

Bofors guns opened up.

When the Bofors finally fell silent, all 14 men from 5 PARA walked out alive, against all odds.

On the other side more than 23 bodies of pakis from 33 FRONTIER FORCE were scattered in front of them.

I want to share an incident from years ago that stuck with me like Fevicol —it clung to my memory and completely transformed the way I perceive anger.
